"I’m a family physician at CMME Villeray, and I also follow patients through the CNESST/SAAQ clinic.
The son of a Greco-Slovene father and a Lebanese mother, I feel a deep connection to the northern beauty of the province where I was born. The snowy mountains and forests bring me far more joy than the sandy beaches of the South! When I’m not caring for my patients or working behind a computer, you’ll likely find me running or hiking a trail, sharing tea with my partner, having dinner with family, or admiring a visual arts exhibit.
My decision to become a doctor was born out of a sincere passion for life sciences and a strong desire to help others. My primary goal has always been to make a positive impact in people’s lives. I began by studying biochemistry at Université de Montréal before moving on to medicine. Along the way, I had the opportunity to volunteer with street children in El Alto, Bolivia, an eye-opening experience that not only taught me the basics of Spanish but also broadened my worldview.
My medical career began in 1997 in Montérégie, at Hôpital du Suroît. I worked in emergency, intensive care, inpatient units, CHSLDs, walk-in clinics, and with registered patients in a GMF I co-founded with colleagues in Vaudreuil, not to mention countless on-call shifts. I also had the chance to serve on the hospital’s bioethics committee and as a delegate on the CMDP executive committee.
Back in Montreal since 2012, my practice has evolved: hospital care, CHSLD, and GMF, with a new focus on CNESST/SAAQ clinic patients, where I quickly realized the importance of consistent medical follow-up for these cases. The team we’ve built at Fabre is truly exceptional, and the synergy between physicians, NPs, clinical nurses, auxiliary nurses, and administrative staff is a constant source of motivation.
With the integration of our GMF into CMME, I’m proud to now be part of a strong, well-organized network of clinics that’s attractive to the next generation. I can honestly say that I enjoy practicing medicine now even more than I did at the beginning of my career.
I have the privilege of commuting actively by bike or on foot. It’s a choice driven by environmental concern, and a desire to leave a healthier planet for my children (and let’s be honest, to help ensure the survival of coffee, cocoa, and maple syrup for as long as possible!). It also happens to align perfectly with my hyperactive tendencies and my deep love for endorphins.
Many people are important in my life: my children (now young adults), my family, friends and mountain companions, colleagues, and of course, my wife - my rock, my companion, and the source of much laughter. We’ve shared 27 years of adventures and connection. All of these people inspire me with their energy, humanism, integrity, and commitment.
And then, there are my patients. They are the ones who teach me my craft every day. Their gratitude, resilience, and courage in the face of adversity constantly remind me of both the fragility and the beauty of life."
